Satchmo Meets Amadeus examines the close encounters between classical music, the soundtrack of the Europeanization of the world, and jazz, the classical music of globalization.

In cooperation with Günter Bischof (Center for Austrian Culture and Commerce, University of New Orleans), Reinhold Wagnleitner (University of Salzburg) organized two symposia accompanied by integrated classical and jazz performances in New Orleans (2000) and in Salzburg (2001). In September 2006, Satchmo will meet Amadeus again in Salzburg – this time convened by Günter Bischof, Wolfgang Pillinger (University Mozarteum) and Reinhold Wagnleitner.
