Research
Interests
My principal research
interest in
mathematics is in Approximation Theory. I am interested in the theory
of
Polynomial Interpolation, Best Approximation by Polynomials and
Rational
Functions. At the time my interests cover the following topics:
A. The (best) polynomial
approximation
to certain functions, for example |x|a on the
interval
[-1,1].
B. Investigating the
(quantitative)
divergence behavior of Lagrange
Interpolation.
C. The size of the Lebesgue
Function for Lagrange Interpolation.
D. General results
(asymptotic expansions)
on the Lebesgue Constants.
E. High precision scientific
numerical
computations on
- Bernstein's
constant (The Bernstein Conjecture in Approximation Theory).
-
The optimal
interpolation arrays.(The Erdös-Bernstein Conjecture).
-
Improvements
of the Remez Algorithm.
F. Rational Approximation
around
the following topics:
-
"8-Conjecture".
-
Interpolation
with the Newman- and Fekete Nodes.
G. Inequalities.
